North Carolina is the fourth-highest solar producer in the nation, but this energy is not available to average homeowners. Third-party leasing of solar power is prohibited by state law. A coalition of clean-energy groups proposed a resolution to Durham City Council that sets a goal of generating fifteen-percent of Durham’s electricity from solar by 2030.

One of its co-founders is Morrisville’s Daniel Way, known for writing comics featuring the Marvel Comics character Dead Pool. Eric Bachmann is a North Carolina indie rock icon and leader of the Chapel Hill band Archers of Loaf. After settling down, Bachmann created what is arguably the best record of his career. The album is a nine-song set titled Eric Bachmann, and was released in March.

In response to the craze for hard soda, Big Boss Brewing Company recently released a limited Root Beer Stout. The drink recipe was created by Brewmaster Brad Wynn and Jon Lehman, founder of Brood Soda in Durham. Lehman specializes in creating unusual combinations of flavors that are popular among craft-beer drinkers.
