The Reynolds family’s intended purpose for their ancestral home was transformed with the Surgeon General’s landmark edict about smoking. From Reynolda becoming more than preservation site for the family’s history, Winston-Salem gained another venue for renown, housed in the former R.J Reynolds headquarters.

Responding to the trend of health consciousness was Winston-Salem’s Primo Water Company. Part of its profile was company-related challenges, such as a decrease of retailers to promote its products. Encouraging a continuation of services were statistics, such as number of individual water bottles saved when Primo jugs were used an average of 40 times. Also inciting service continuation was a reminder about the 2016 Flint, Michigan water crisis and harmful chemicals that may be still present in everyday tap water.

Winston-Salem's Graylyn Estate, built as a private residence by Bowman Gray, Sr. in the 1920s, is one of the country's best examples of Norman Revival architecture. Now owned by Wake Forest University, the 98-room estate is a world-class conference center.

It combines the individual headquarters for Winston-Salem’s cultural, charitable, and civic life. The right wing houses facilities for the Arts and Crafts Council. Little Theater and Symphony; center houses the United Fund agencies; and left wing, Winston-Salem’s Chamber of Commerce and Jaycee offices.
