Abstract:
Low-income people in Watauga County showed that by sharing the expenses of a community-owned vehicle, they could save money and get to places more efficiently. This led to the development of a rural transportation system called the Green Eagle Community Transportation Cooperative. The transportation system includes six buses and has enabled an increase in jobs, income, and economic growth.

Each year since 1980 the Martin County community of Farm Life, nicknamed Jerusalem South, has staged its original outdoor drama, THE MESSAGE OF EASTER. An expected 20,000 people will attend this year's play.

Abstract:
Between 1970 and 1993, state broiler and turkey production grew in value and volume. Nationally, the state ranks first in turkey and fourth in broiler production. Statewide in 1993, poultry and commercial eggs were over 30% of the agricultural market.
