Currently, Edgecombe County is home to three museums: Edgecombe County Veterans Military Museum, The Blount-Bridgers House and Hobson Pittman Memorial Gallery and the Princeville Museum and Welcome Center. With exception to the Princeville Museum, which is still recovering from losses sustained during Hurricane Mathew in 2016, the museums maintain regular hours of operation.

Lucille George was owner of the Carolina Cafe in Rocky Mount from 1942-87. Her pecan butter pie made her an icon. Nephew Matt Kannan and wife Brandy recently recovered the recipe and after numerous taste testings have secured its authenticity.

Consolidation of Martin County's smaller schools beginning in the second decade of the 20th century brought forward the creation of the Asa J. Manning Farm Life School in the Griffins Township district in 1921. The author recounts it history until its closure in 1987.

The Sauls family has roots dating back to 1712 in Norfolk Va., when captain John Fulcher willed his 640 acre plantation to his enslave children.. The family moved to Green County N.C. at an early date and went on to prosper farming the area.

Established in 1800, the cemetery was owned by Christ Episcopal Church until 1853, when it was transferred over to the city of New Bern. Markers in the cemetery reveal oa "whose-who" of 19th and 20th century North Carolinians.

The Perry-Wynn Fish Company was established in 1952 by L.D. Perry and Leo Wynns. At one time, the company shipped millions of harvested herring from Bertie County waters, having more than 200 seasonal workers during its heyday.
