Description: Letter from George Attmore Sparrow in Falkland in Pitt County, NC to his father Thomas Sparrow. George writes to his father about paying a debt by selling his cotton for as much as he can get. He says that his effects remain in “status quo” except for one mule jack that he traded for a stallion. George hopes to wind up all of his business at Green Wreath Plantation by December 20th. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
