Commander Welch discusses his service during World War II on the USS Bernadou DD-153 in the Atlantic and on submarines USS Nautilus SS-168, USS Stingray SS-186, and USS Seahorse SS-304 in the Pacific. He also discusses service at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory as the underwater weapons specialist and his retirement in 1961. Interviewer: Fred D. Ragan.
