Biographical/historical information
The Institute for Historical Research in Tobacco at East Carolina University sponsored annual symposiums on the history of tobacco during 1973, 1974, and 1975. Among the noted tobacco historians from throughout the nation who participated were Nannie May Tilley, Robert F. Durden, G. Melvin Herndon, Orman E. Street, B. G. Andrews, and Joseph C. Robert.
Scope and arrangement
Sessions for 1974 on "Tobacco's Impact Upon Towns and Town Life in North Carolina" and for 1975 on "The Tobacco Export Trade and Its Impact Upon the North Carolina Area" were recorded.
