The property containing Bertie Beach was recently purchased by Bertie County for $1 million with the aid of state and federal grants. The county envisions the beach not only for local access but with the possibility of camping trails and perhaps a visitor's center. The beach is part of Bertie's "Tall Glass of Water" project administrated by Robin Payne.
