Four overlooks tower above the Linville River Falls that plunge for nearly 1600 feet into the Linville Gorge, and can be visited by a short side trip from the Parkway just south of Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain area.

The Lithium Corporation of America is moving into the area and building a plant near Bessemer City and Gastonia.
