The National Park Service named the Washington waterfront as Underground Railroad to Freedom site in 2014. The museum is run by Leesa Jones and gives a pictorial history of slavery in Washington and Beaufort County.

Cherry Insurance Company in Windsor, NC in 1912 and served as county treasurer.
