The sale of NC State University's Hofmann Forest for $150 million is nearly complete. The money for the 79,000-acre property was offered by prospective buyer Jerry Walker, who owns and manages Illinois-based Walker Ag Group, a family-run business operating in twenty-three counties in seven states. However, \"a coalition of professors, foresters, landowners, and wildlife conservationists is suing the university over the proposed sale, saying the environmental impacts could be significant.\" An injunction hearing is scheduled for November 12.

Abstract:
Neal McTighe flunked his sophomore Italian class, but when it came to making tomato sauce, he hit the jackpot. He researched the project thoroughly, spent three years in Italy, and finally produced Nello's Sauce. He now has a commitment from Whole Foods, a 27-store South region food market, to stock and sell his sauce. The line of handcrafted tomato sauces is hand-filled by employees into 14- and 25-ounce bottles, but McTighe says he will need to invest in an automated system to keep up with sales. McTighe did continue his Italian studies and graduated with a doctorate in the language at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Abstract:
Sorg describes a movement that's occurring in the state, the Little Free Library, a nationwide movement that began in Wisconsin in 2009. The little wooden boxes on poles may look like birdhouses, but they're not. They are filled with small book collections, about two dozen or so, and neighbors and visitors just take a book and leave a book. Sorg explores the Triangle Area to find how widespread the movement is in the area. Worldwide there are about 12,000 boxes, with more being built each day.
