Abstract:
Most of the actors coming to Wilmington, North Carolina before 1800 came directly from Charleston, South Carolina. The visiting actors served as a stimulus to the Thalian Association, and often the local actors offered the same plays they had seen given by the professionals.

Raleigh Supercon is a three-day convention dedicated to comics, movies, television and popular culture. Michael Rooker, known for his performance in the movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, is one of the celebrities who will speak at the convention. In an INDY interview, Rooker discusses his acting career, his acting methods, and his upcoming visit to Supercon.

Places in the Heart recently joined the Magnolia Arts Center, Smiles and Frowns Playhouse, Whirligig Stage, and Farmville Community Arts Council as the theatrical presence in the community. An associate of Magnolia Theatre she is “cautiously optimistic” though about establishing dramatic arts options comparable to the long established sporting offerings.
