Wildwood Park began in 2019 as a joint venture between Eddie Smith, Greenville business owner and the city of Greenville. Construction for the adventure park began in 2021. In 2023, the city opened a welcome center with restrooms, storage and office space. In 2025, Greenville received a $500,000 grant to connect Wildwood with River Park North via a 685 foot boardwalk.

Located in downtown Windsor, Livermon was established in 1989. Windsor Commissioner Cathy Wilson oversees the park. Early Windsor leaders, David Jenette Sr. and L.T. Livermon were driving forces behind the venture, which now includes the Cashie Wetlands Walk, a half mile ADA accessible trail through forest and swampland leading to a platform overlooking the Cashie River.

The park host more than 110,000 visitors annually. Central to the park is Lake Phelps, which is considered a "Carolina Bay". The area lay virtually undiscovered until 1775. Canoes dating back to 2400 B.C. have been discovered in the lake. the park is located in both Tyrrell and Washington counties.
