Abstract:
The park host more than 110,000 visitors annually. Central to the park is Lake Phelps, which is considered a "Carolina Bay". The area lay virtually undiscovered until 1775. Canoes dating back to 2400 B.C. have been discovered in the lake. the park is located in both Tyrrell and Washington counties.
