Description: Plate lithograph of Young Family Tree: Memorial and Family Tree of Michael Cadet Young of Brunswick County, Va. and of his descendants 16-- to 1895. Attributed to Calvin Duvall Cowles (1849-). Michael Cadet Young (1684 or 1685-1769) was a surveyor who immigrated from Bristol, England to America with his half-brother, William Young, and settled in Brunswick County, Va. The family tree states "The foregoing records and traditions of the earlier generations of the Young family furnished by Mr. Nathaniel P. Young of Isle of Wight, C. H., Va., Mrs. Mary Cecila Dalton of Houstonville, N.C., and Miss S. H. B. Mason of Washington, D.C. were arranged by Capt. Calvin Duvall Cowles, U.S. Army, for who this family tree has been redrawn and plate lithographed, Washington, D.C., August, 1895."
