Description: Reminiscence by James H. Foote about his years (1837-1838) as a student of Peter Stuart Ney in Iredell County, N.C. on Hunting Creek. Foote presents evidence that Peter Stuart Ney (who taught in North Carolina schools from the late 1810s through at least the late 1830s and died in Rowan County in 1846), was one of Napoleon Bonaparte's marshals who was supposedly executed for "high treason" in 1815.
