Description: Letter from George Attmore Sparrow to his father Thomas Sparrow from Green Wreath, a plantation house in Pitt County, NC. George writes to ask his father to send his book on book keeping from the library at home along with a 12x8 blank book. George says that he has not received his issue of the Reconstructed Farmer, a monthly magazine published in Tarboro, NC. He asks his father to send along any agricultural news that my interest him. George also writes about harvesting his crops and selling some of his cotton at a stand. He hopes to pay off all of his debts with the money he makes from his cotton harvest. George then gives his love to his family and asks for them to write him. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
