Description: Letter from George Attmore Sparrow in Okaw, Illinois to his father Thomas Sparrow. George tells his father that he has been studying his lessons in Latin grammar and arithmetic. He writes that his Uncle Blossom and Uncle Sam are going away, and that his baby brother Johnny is getting big. George also says that his father may need to bring a bridal present for Aunt Fanny who everyone believes is soon to be engaged. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
