- Letter from George Attmore Sparrow in Okaw, Illinois to his father Thomas Sparrow. George tells his father that he received his letter and read it with his grandpa. George says that his cousin Billy, who returned from Texas, is staying with them and hopes to go into the law business with Thomas Sparrow. George also says he has reconciled himself to living in the country and that it has been livelier there since they started shipping out corn.
From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
