Description: Letter from George Attmore Sparrow in Arcola, Illinois to his sisters. George writes to his sisters that he is growing used his to being in Arcola, but he still gets home sick. George says that he went to a small town last night with Aunt Fanny and Emma and had a good time. Ever since hearing that his sisters are in Portsmouth, NC with their Aunt Caddie, George has wished that he was back there with them. George says to give his love to Ivy Taylor and to ask if he can write to her. He also says to give Aunt Caddie his love and tell her that he will write to her. Their mother received a letter from their father in Beaufort saying that he expects to stop and see the girls in Portsmouth. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
