Letter from George Attmore Sparrow in Washington, NC to his father Thomas Sparrow. George tells his father that he went to church with his sisters Annie and Jennie yesterday morning and his mother went last night. George says they cannot go to school because it is raining and his mother asked him to write to his father. His mother wants to know where Aunt Maggie got little Maggie’s dress and wants one more yard of material. George also says that Annie, Jennie, and Maggie are all sewing. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
