Description: Letter from George Attmore Sparrow in Washington, NC to his father Thomas Sparrow. George tells his father that he has been sick with a sore throat for a few days. Georges says that his mother and sisters are at church, so he is home alone and using the opportunity to write a long letter to his father. George discusses an article he wants his father to read, his mother making oysters, and buying him a rifle. He also says that Aunt Caddie, Uncle James, and their baby are well. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
