Description: Julius Grunow started in business with his brother William in 1850 in New Haven, Conneticut. They moved to New York in 1863 and the firm became known as J. Grunow from 1874 to 1892. They made a number of innovative instruments in the early years. In the later years Grunow made American-style microscopes in several sizes as well as continental-style microscopes. This instrument has an elaborate condenser. The serial number is 1025.
