Description: Aldon J. Laborde, USNA Class of 1938, Oral History Interview. Laborde comments on his early life in Marksville, Louisiana and his education at LSU and the USNA. After graduating from the Naval Academy, Laborde served on the USS Tennessee BB-43 for two years and then resigned after failing an eye exam. After the start of WWII, Laborde became an officer in the Naval Reserves. He commanded the USS Blair DE-147 on Atlantic convoys and later on minesweeping duty of the shore of Japan. Laborde resigned after the war and returned home to Louisiana where he worked on off shore oil rigs. Interviewer: Donald R. Lennon.
