Description: Michelle A. Francis' interview with Harwood Graves, a potter from Randolph County, N.C. Mr. Graves' brother Clyde joins the interview in the middle. The brothers worked for J.B. Cole Pottery as well as owned their own pottery shop in the first half of the 20th century. They discuss the process of digging clay, creating pottery, and glazing, as well as trading trips they took to New York and Miami. They also talk about an African-American potter named Rance Steed.
