Scope and arrangement

Commander Sugg describes his early background, schooling at the U.S. Naval Academy and elsewhere, service aboard the U.S.S. MEADE in the Pacific (1942-1945), duty in China (1945-1947), Japan, the Mediterranean (1953-1954), Hawaii (1956-1960), Vietnam (1960-1961), and at the Pentagon (1961-1964). Among the 13 campaigns in which the MEADE was involved were Guadalcanal, the Aleutians, Tarawa, and the Marshall Islands.
