This is a variant of the word “pied,” which according to the OED means dappled or speckled in color. The first two uses of this term refer to pearls in Hariot’s description of them in the “marchantable commodities” section. The second occurrence of the term appears in Hariot’s description of “okindgier, called by us beanes” and refers to their mottled appearance. See “okindgier” and “pide.” - Matt
