The Maola Milk & Ice Cream Company opened the Cow Cafe in New Bern in 1994, right across the street from its plant. Decorated in black and white, the cafe has attracted a local following and is a favorite of hundreds of vacationers from out-of-state.

James Noble opened the restaurant almost twenty years ago and today has restaurants in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Charlotte. The original High Point restaurant, specializes in offering the finest foods, all prepared in-house, and attracts a strong following, both local and out-of-state.

Dick's Hot Dog Stand is a Wilson landmark. Founded in 1921 by Socrates Gliarmis, the restaurant has fed people in all walks of life who come to enjoy a hot dog flavored with a secret chili sauce. Gliarmis' son and grandchildren now run the business.
