Noted in this endeavor is Duke's December 2024announcement to invest $250 million to buy Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. In January 2025, it declared a partnership with UNC Health to build a proposed $2 billion children's hospital in the Triangle. Another partnership in March was announced with Novant Health.

Under Brady's leadership, the partnership has shifted it workforce mindset from academics to career and technical education. Currently the county has 8,000 technical and manufacturing jobs with average wages of $66,000, as opposed to its $3 billion tourism industry with average salaries at $30,000.
