Over twenty years ago the Printing Industry of the Carolinas (PICA) established a trade show in Charlotte. Held every other year, it has become the largest such exhibition in the Southeast, and one of the largest in the nation.

On Columbus Day--October 12, 1961--President John F. Kennedy will officially open the North Carolina Trade Fair at the Coliseum and Merchandise Mart in Charlotte, North Carolina. The first state-sponsored trade fair in America, the trade fair is expected to draw more than 300,000 buyers and visitors from all over the country to the over 1000 exhibits.
