Abstract:
Although Moore County grows more peaches than any other county in the state and is known nationwide for its golf resorts, there is industry there. The county's biggest industry is the Pinehurst Cloth Mills at Hemp. Other industries include the Aberdeen Hosiery Mill, the Aberdeen Sand Company, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, the Carthage Weaving Company, and the Sandhill Furniture Company.

Abstract:
Moore County, once a retirement mecca, is now known for its opportunities in education, health care employment, and tourism. These opportunities, along with a proximity to Fort Bragg, led to this county having the best rural economy in the state and Pinehurst/Southern Pines rising to 27 in an economic-strength ranking of micropolitan communities.
