Summer in North Carolina is filled with festivals, Shakespeare, modern dance and classical music. Summer in the “State of the Arts” brings a whole range of cultural events to attract the native or out-of-state vacationer. One of the biggest events is the Brevard Music Festival, which features seven weeks of chamber music, ballet, symphonies, pop concerts, and musicals.

The Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) sparked a non-profit organization created by Jennifer Pickering in 1995. LEAF was created as a global music festival, and because of this, Jennifer started LEAF International, an organization that encourages musicians from different countries around the world to facilitate arts programming in their own communities.

The Raleigh arts and music festival Artsplosure is celebrating its 35 anniversary this year. The festival was started as a way to get Raleigh residents to visit the downtown. Now, Artsplosure is struggling to remain relevant with all of the changes to the downtown over the years. Around the time of the festival, there will be at least five other festivals or events in downtown Raleigh. Promoters are looking for ways to attract attendees to keep the festival alive.

The Triangle Photography Festival entitled \"Click!\" is a month-long celebration of photography that occurs annually in the Triangle Area. The festival includes 70 exhibits and events in 40 different venues. The festival also features a variety of art displays, workshops, portfolio reviews, and museum tours, among other activities.
