MINUTES OF THE STAFF MEETING OF THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT
September 9, 1963

The staff of the Psychology Department met in Rawl 232 at 10 o'clock
aem., Monday, September 9, 1963.

Present: Dr. Clinton R. Prewett, Chairman, Dr. Benjamin Allen, Dr. Ruby
Bliss, Mr. Larry Byrd, Dr. John R. Clarke, Mr. Calvert R. Dixon, Dr. Willie
Mae Gillis, Mr. Robert B. Graham, Dr. Albert Griffith, Dr. Jacob Mandel, Dr.
Julia Marshall, Dr. Charles Martoccia, Mr. Edward M. Nicholson, and Mrs.
Hazel Stapleton. Teaching fellow present: James Butier

Absent: Teaching fellows: Dan Winslow and Larry Whitlock

New staff members: Mrs. Hazel Stapleton, Dr. Julia Marshall, Dr. Benjamin
Allen, and Mr. Larry Byrd were introduced.

Packets of information prepared by Dean Holt's office were distributed to
all staff members,

Election: Dr. Albert Griffith was elected as the departmental representative
to the President's Advisory Council,

Schedules were established for registration work and advisory duties in
various offices.

The Director discussed the general nature of the work to be done this quarter
and emphasized the necessity of the Department projecting an image of scholar-
ship and helpfulness in order that it might continue to recruit good students
to the program.

It was estimated that approximately 10 students would be in residency for
graduate work in psychology during the fall quarter.

It was voted to hold the regular departmental meeting the first Monday of
each month at 4 o'clock in Rawl 232,

The meeting adjourned at 11 o'clock at which time certain, subcomaittees met.
