Record #:
Whiteville, the county seat of Columbus County, first appeared in written records in a 1733 land grant. The town was heavily involved in agriculture throughout its history, producing tobacco, timber, naval stores, and pecans. Attractions for visitors include the Pecan Festival, Guiton's Drug Store, the Vineland Depot, and the North Carolina Museum of Forestry.
