Abstract:
The North Carolina Board of Higher Education assessed 74 different components of higher education to compare institutions and student performance across the state and nationally. Results from the Board's report, \"Planning for Higher Education in North Carolina\", are discussed in this article.

Abstract:
The 1967 General Assembly organized the Tax Study Commission with the aim of analyzing current tax codes and proposing changes to increase revenue for the state. Recommendations for revised tax codes are presented in this article. Primarily taxation of local sales and income taxes and taxes related to motor vehicles are covered.

Abstract:
State revenue is generated from both the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages. The author presents statistics concerning profits from alcohol from 1946 to the time of this article. Mr. Lawrence also analyzes the distribution of ABC stores and wealth accrued between different counties throughout the state for the purposes of proposing further legislation to increase state revenue.
