Tourism in Vance County, North Carolina is centered on Kerr Lake which encompasses seven recreation areas for boating and fishing. Despite the popularity of Kerr Lake, there are other tourist destinations in the county such as car shows and Civil War trails.

After 40 years of service to the Vance County area, Maria Parham Medical Center is getting some drastic changes. At a cost of $58 million, the hospital is upgrading facilities, out-patient and in-patient surgical care, intensive care, emergency care, oncology services, rehabilitation and extensive women's health care services.

After 20 years functioning in an old grocery store building, the H. Leslie Perry Memorial Library, serving Henderson and Vance counties in North Carolina, is opening its multi-million dollar facility. With larger space and more books also comes wireless connectivity and digital services.
