East Carolina University’s College of Engineering and Technology has become a campus model for helping low income students overcome barriers. Making this initiative possible is a grant from the National Science Foundation Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics program. Aims for this program include improving educational outcomes for community college transfer students.
As a response to decreasing bee colonies worldwide, East Carolina University has established hives on its Health Sciences campus. This initiative has yielded ECU becoming certified as a Bee Campus USA program affiliate.
East Carolina University Anthropology department students found the ruins of a tavern with an artifact proving seeds of independence were planted decades before the Revolutionary War. One of many artifacts, the cufflink contained inscribed words indicating early support for independence from the British monarchy.
