The first and only molluscan survey in the Neuse River basin was conducted in 1956. Since that time urbanization and industrialization have increased rapidly, potentially affecting molluscan population and distribution.

The eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina) is a terrestrial turtle found throughout North Carolina and the eastern half of the United States. This study collected eastern box turtles from the Piedmont region of North Carolina, and presents information on the turtle’s ecology and life history.
Abstract:
This study examined eighty-five sea birds for the presence of parasitic worms (helminths) between May 1977 and September 1979. The birds were collected off Oregon Inlet, North Carolina, and represented the orders Procellariiformes, Pelecaniformes, and Charadriiformes. Feeding habits of the host birds were directly reflected by their helminth fauna.
