- Dr. Newsom Jones Pittman's journals from his travels and studies while in Europe. Begins 23 June 1851 when Pittman left his home in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He traveled to New York City and on 1 July set sail for England. On 13 July, Pittman arrived in Liverpool, England. In the rest of the journal he writes about his time in England and then traveling to and explorations in Paris. The majority of the journal ends 16 Nov 1851 with several blank pages before one last entry dated 14 March 1852 in Paris. Measurements of first scan: 97X146 creator: Newsom Jones Pittman
