Description: Copy of correspondence from Vilhjalmur Stefansson to Carl J. Lomen in which Stefansson asks Lomen's advice regarding payments made to Ada Blackjack. Stefansson claims he paid Blackjack more than she was owed, but the claim that she was never paid keeps coming up. Blackjack was the sole survivor of the failed Wrangel Island Expedition organized by Stefansson. Stefansson used Blackjack's diary from the expedition as the basis for his book. While Stefansson claimed to have paid Blackjack all she was owed, Blackjack maintained she was never compensated for her story.
