Title: Acetate record with message from Lt. Arthur McIntyre
Identifier: 0928-s4-b3-fa (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/85737)
Description: Acetate audio record containing a message from Lt. Arthur Greenville McIntyre, then a Japanese POW, read by an unknown male announcer. Recorded by shortwave radio operator B.O. South at 460 Larkin St., San Francisco, California; South and other shortwave radio operators recorded many POW messages broadcast from Japan and mailed the recordings to the POWs' families. This record is dated March 21st, 1945, recording #2523. Both sides of the record are the same message, but are unique because these recordings were made directly to each side of the disc live. Disc side 2 is warped and has a scratch that makes it hard to get a complete digitized recording without skipping, but from the partial recording we can tell it is the same message being dictated.
