Description: Neyuherú·kęʼ Wampum Belt Ceremony. This wampum belt was presented to the "people of North Carolina" by the Tuscarora Nation of New York and accepted by then Provost Marilyn Sheerer and ECU on behalf of North Carolina in 2013 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the siege at Fort Neyuherú·kęʼ, which was the last battle of the Tuscarora War. Alternate spellings are Nooherooka and Neoheroka. Event speakers include ECU history professor Larry Tise and multiple members of the Tuscarora Nation (Vincent Schiffert, Chiefs Neil Patterson, Sr., Leo Henry, Kenneth Patterson, and Stuart Patterson, and an unidentified woman) speaking in English, Tuscarora, and Mohawk.
