Fire and Fur, Unpublished Sequel, and Correspondence
Title: Fire and Fur, Unpublished Sequel, and Correspondence
Identifier: 1029-b3-fq   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/67754)
Description: Digital files of fantasy author Roger C. Schlobin's novel Fire & Fur, along with portions of an unpublished sequel, and correspondence regarding the novel. The novel is a fantasy story incorporating Chinese mythology which tells the tale of "dragons terraforming the Gobi from sea to land . . . In doing so, they release an ancient enemy and their bane, the Azghun Demons, that had driven them into the sea in the first place." In response, a shaman cat, Mei-chou, comes to the aid of the last sorcerer dragon, Ao Rue, who must stand up to the demons while also pursuing unrequited love. According to Schlobin's publisher, the novel was among the first 2-3 original novels published exclusively on the Internet and was originally published in 1994 by OnmiMedia. In the correspondence, Schlobin reaches out to various publishers such as ACE, Atheneum, and Ballantine seeking publication, to a faculty member in the School of Art and Design at East Carolina University seeking an illustrator for an illustrated edition of the novel, various publications seeking review, and even to the filmmaker Steven Spielberg to inquire into Spielberg's interest in making Fire & Fur into an animated film. Also included are two chapters for the sequel to Fire & Fur, titled The Last Soul. The date given is the date of the version of the files provided, not the date of their original creation.
