Appraisal reports for 304 W. 1st Street, Greenville, N.C.
Title: Appraisal reports for 304 W. 1st Street, Greenville, N.C.
Identifier: 0674-b8-fi   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/62477)
Description: Appraisal reports related to parcel 7-9 located at 304 W. 1st Street, Greenville, N.C. and owned by H. David Barnhill. Parcel Appraisal Report (1962) by D.G. Nichols, Realtor. A West Appraisal (1963) by George M. West, Real Estate Appraiser. Included in the reports are photographs of the house on the property. The property was purchased and the house demolished as part of the Shore Drive Redevelopment Project meant to "revitalize" Greenville's downtown area, but which broke up a vibrant African American community and displaced over 250 African American families in the name of economic development. Featured in the photographs of the house are signs for the soft drink Dr. Pepper and the front screen door and on a sign hanging above the front window. On the George M. West appraisal form, there also appears to be a Pepsi Cola sign in the front yard.
