The property was purchased and the house demolished as part of the Shore Drive Redevelopment Project meant to "revitalize" Greenville's downtown area, but which broke up a vibrant African American community and displaced over 250 African American families in the name of economic development. One of the photographs includes two individuals sitting in rocking chairs on the front porch.
