Description: An issue of The East Carolinian published in the days following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with a special focus on the tragedy. The events on 9/11/2001 occurred when four coordinated terrorist attacks were carried out by the militant Islamic extremist network al-Qaeda against the United States. East Carolina's campus student-run campus newspaper was first published in 1923 as the East Carolina Teachers College News (1923-1925). It has been re-named as The Techo Echo (1926-1952), East Carolinian (1952-1969), Fountainhead (1969-1979), and The East Carolinian (1979-present). It includes local, state, national, and international stories with a focus on campus events.
