Virginia Hardy Oral History Interview, June 24, 2020.
Title: Virginia Hardy Oral History Interview, June 24, 2020.
Identifier: UA95.18.06   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/62323)
Description: Video recording of ECU Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Virginia Hardy's interview for the "The Rise of Alpha Dog" oral history project conducted by Don Leggett. The project explores perceptions of East Carolina as an "underdog" or "alpha dog." Hardy describes her education, teaching career, employment with ECU, and how her impression of ECU has evolved over time. Leggett asks Hardy if she feels ECU has been perceived as an "underdog" institution, where this perception is most apparent, and what affect it has on the university. Next they discuss what ECU would look like as an "alpha dog" university, what goals for improvement ECU should ultimately meet, if ECU can meet academic improvement goals while maintaining its role in the economic development of the region, and how to recognize when ECU's goals have been met.
