Description: Dr. John Wooten was an orthopedic surgeon who practiced in Greenville, North Carolina for over fifty years, beginning in 1955. Dr. John Wooten discusses the history of health care in Greenville, beginning with the formation of Pitt Community Hospital in Greenville in 1923. Dr. Wooten's wife, Dr. Harriet Wooten, and their son, Dr. Mont Wooten, also participate in a discussion of the changes in Greenville's health care since the mid-1980s, focusing on the community health care and its relationship to the hospital. The physicians compare past and present practices of health care and discuss the future challenges for Greenville's health care system. Approximately 85 minutes.
