Description: Letter expressing James E. Poindexter's frustration regarding the Speaker Ban Law to Gov. Dan K. Moore. Poindexter was Chairman of the Faculty at ECC. Letter is marked "copy" at the top. North Carolina’s Speaker Ban Law was passed by the North Carolina General Assembly on June 26, 1963. Essentially, it forbade anyone to speak on any University of North Carolina campus with known ties to the Communist Party or any subversive groups advocating overthrow of the U.S. Constitution.
