Description: Print: photographic by Malarie Dean Reising for Spring 2011 in ART4250. Why should anyone care about 20-somethings? What signifies our generation? Why does our age group have underlying feelings of being lost and listless? How can an entire generation have perpetual cabin fever? What comes next? ‘The Waiting Room’ is my answer to these generational questions. By using my peers and close friends as models, I investigated these issues by a voyeuristic type of portraiture. I want to convey the universal feeling of uncertainty that is experienced while transitioning to adulthood. With the use of film, my images have an added sense of sentimentality as if the subjects are clinging to their soon to be lost youth.
